a la mode's products are designed to run on Windows (32‑bit or 64‑bit versions). As with any software, the more your PC exceeds the minimum requirements, the better your experience will be. For detailed information, click here to view our PC buying guide.
The versions of Windows listed below are the only versions that are currently supported for installing our desktop software. Click one of the supported versions of Windows below to view Microsoft's official minimum system requirements. If you're unsure which version you use, click here (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/which-operating-system) for a Microsoft support page that will tell you.
NOTE: The links below are case sensitive. "R" is not the same thing as "r", for example.
In addition to Microsoft's requirements above, we also require that your PC has the latest service pack for Windows installed. Click here for more information on which service packs are currently available, and for a chance to update your Windows install.
We don't support running our software over terminal services, or any other remote desktop service. If you’re unsure whether you’re using terminal services, please contact a local technician.
Additionally, due to an issue in Microsoft's SQL Server, you're unable to install TOTAL or WinTOTAL Aurora on a server that's also being used as a domain controller. For more information on this issue, click here.
Beyond the official requirements to run Windows, one thing to keep in mind when purchasing a new PC or upgrading your existing hardware is hard drive space. You’ll need to make sure you have enough to install the programs you need to work and store your reports, too. When it comes to storage space (like all computer specs.), more is always better.
Below are details about our products to help you choose a PC with an appropriate amount of storage:
The above sizes don't include the size of the installation file, which can be around the same size as the program itself. Keep this in mind if you're downloading the installation files on a slow or limited Internet connection.
Since appraisal files continue to grow, we recommend that you have at least 10MB of storage space available per report that you complete.
Use this to estimate the amount of storage you need by multiplying this value with the number of reports you complete in a year, then multiply that value by two (WinTOTAL and TOTAL keep a local backup of every file on disk) to determine your annual ongoing storage needs.
