Spell Check

TOTAL includes a built-in spell checker to help you identify and correct typos or misspelled words in your report.

Follow the instructions below to run a spell check:

  1. In the Forms PowerView, click Tools, hover over Spell Check, and choose to Spell Check Current Field, Spell Check Current Form, or Spell Check Whole Report.

  2. When the spell checker finds a word that is not in its dictionary, the Spelling window opens. Choose one of the following options to handle the flagged word:

    • Ignore:
Skips the current instance of the word without changing it.

    • Ignore All:
Skips all instances of the word throughout the entire report.

    • Add:
Adds the unrecognized word to your personal dictionary so it is never flagged as a misspelling again.

    • Change:
Replaces the flagged word with the word currently highlighted in the suggestions list.

    • Change All:
Replaces every instance of the flagged word in your report with the highlighted suggestion.

    • Suggest:
Generates a new list of suggested words. Use this when you manually type a correction into the Change To field and want to see additional suggestions. This is helpful if you're unsure of the exact spelling of a word.

    • Add to AutoCorrect:
Links the Not in Dictionary text with the text in the Change To field and adds it to your AutoCorrect list. The next time you type the text displayed in the Not in Dictionary field, TOTAL corrects it automatically using the text in the Change To field.

    • Cancel:
Closes the Spelling window and ends the spell check process.

  3. Repeat the process for each flagged word until the spell check is complete.

  4. Click OK on the confirmation prompt when the spell check finishes.
