When you try to deliver a report via e‑mail you receive an error saying, "Could not send message:  A MAPI Compatible e‑mail application could not be detected, when using Report Delivery" or "General MAPI failure [2]."  This typically occurs when Windows does not know which e‑mail program you use to manage your e‑mail by default.  This document helps you set your default e‑mail application and force Windows to recognize it when necessary.

Setting Your Default Mail Application in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10.

TOTAL and Aurora aren't compatible with Windows 8 and 10's built-in e‑mail app. You need a different e‑mail client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Live Mail, to use the Share Report function.
  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window.

Editing Your Win.ini

If you're still experiencing difficulties after declaring your default mail program, you can fix it by updating the file Windows references when sending mail through your default e‑mail program.  Simply go to http://www.alamode.com/tech/files/FixMAPI.exe in your internet browser, and choose to Run the program when prompted.

When complete, click OK and resend your report.
