TOTAL for Tablet PC's sketch settings control line styles for interior and exterior walls, dimension defaults, and a variety of other visual cues in the sketcher.

Wall Settings

The Interior Walls sections allow you to customize TOTAL for Tablet PC's default line style for each type of wall. To adjust your interior and exterior wall line styles:

  1. From TOTAL for Tablet PC's Preferences, click the Draw tab.

  2. Adjust your line style settings for the Interior Walls to your preferences. Settings include:
    • Color - Just click the color menu and select a color.

    • Style - Choose between the various solid, dashed, and dotted line styles
    • Width - Use the slider to increase or decrease line width.
  3. When finished, click OK to save your changes.

Other Settings

In addition to the basic line settings you can set a few other options. To apply any of these settings:

  1. From TOTAL for Tablet PC's Preferences, click the Draw tab.
  2. Check or uncheck the desired options. Options include:
    • Show Visual Effects - TOTAL for Tablet PC's sketcher uses animation, like pulsing points at the ends of each line you draw, to assist you in drawing your sketch. By default, these animations are enabled, but you can disable them by unchecking this box.
    • Show Pop Points - Pop points assist you in drawing your sketches by offering clickable points as you draw. These points automate the drawing process by allowing you to draw a line to exactly match up with other lines and intersections in your sketch. By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC enables these pop points, but you can disable them by unchecking this box.
    • Auto Scroll - If you draw your sketches with a keyboard, TOTAL for Tablet PC can assist you in scrolling your sketch as you draw lines. Specifically, if your line is longer than the area currently displayed on screen, TOTAL for Tablet PC will automatically scroll the view of your sketch to grant you more drawing space. By default, this option is enabled, but you can disable it by unchecking this box.
    • Auto Resize Dimension Labels - TOTAL for Tablet PC can automatically scale the size of your dimension labels to fit the space available in your sketch. This feature is off by default, but you can check this box to automatically set the size of your dimension labels.
    • Prompt for area definition when area is created - By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC Sketch prompts you for an area type once you've closed an area in your sketch. By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC enables this option, but if you prefer to draw your entire sketch and label each area once the sketch is complete, you can disable this option by unchecking the box.
    • Show dimensions for interior walls - By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC hides the dimension labels for interior walls. If you'd like to display them in your sketch, just check this box.
    • Show area name and calculations - TOTAL for Tablet PC can display the names and calculations for the areas you've drawn. By default, this feature is turned off (to keep labels and calculations out of your way) but you can enable it by checking this box.
    • Show dimension input panel when line is less than - When you draw short wall lines with a pen input, TOTAL for Tablet PC can prompt you for an exact measurement. If you'd like this to occur, check this box and specify a wall length under which you want TOTAL for Tablet PC to prompt you.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.
