General Settings

 
     

To adjust TOTAL for Tablet PC's General settings:

  1. From TOTAL for Tablet PC's Preferences, click the General tab.

  2. Apply your preferred options. Options include:
    • Startup Mode - By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC opens your sketcher in Draw Mode any time you open it in a brand new file. Draw Mode treats your sketch as if it's blank and assists you in beginning the sketch. Modify Mode opens your sketcher as if there is an existing sketch to modify in your new file files. TOTAL for Tablet PC treats new files differently than existing files so set the appropriate Startup Mode for each situation.
    • Startup Window Position - This setting controls how TOTAL for Tablet PC opens. If you want TOTAL for Tablet PC to always open to a maximum width and height, mark the Maximized option. Otherwise, mark Use Last Position or Use Standard Position to specify where you want TOTAL for Tablet PC to open on screen.
    • Input Mode - This option controls your preferred method of entering data on a mobile PC like a tablet or UMPC. Mark either Mouse/Keyboard Mode or Pen Mode based on your preference. Keep in mind that this option is not available on full laptop/PC devices - only on those with a tablet version of Windows.
    • Application Mode - If you use TOTAL for Tablet PC primarily as a tool to draw your sketch in the field, mark Sketch Only. Otherwise, mark Include Data Gathering Functions if you plan to use it to collect data during your inspection as well. Keep in mind that this option is not available on full laptop/PC devices - only on those with a tablet version of Windows.
    • Updates - If you want TOTAL for Tablet PC to automatically check for updates as they're available, check the box to Check Automatically. Otherwise, leave the box unchecked.
    • Screen Formatting - Depending on the size of your screen and the resolution that your PC is capable of, you may want to adjust the height of the fields in TOTAL for Tablet PC. By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC sets field heights (Line Height) to 8 pixels (each pixel equates to one small dot on your screen). If this makes the font unreadable, you can adjust the size by clicking the up and down arrows to the right of the field. Keep in mind that this option is not available on full laptop/PC devices - only on those with a tablet version of Windows.
    • Restore Default Settings - Click this button to revert ALL of TOTAL for Tablet PC's preference settings back to their defaults.
  3. When finished, click OK to accept your changes.
