Grid Settings

TOTAL for Tablet PC's Grid settings allow you to set your preferred units of measurement and fine tune the increments it uses in your sketcher to assist you in drawing lines and angles. To customize your grid settings:

  1. From TOTAL for Tablet PC's Preferences, click the Grid tab.  These options can also be accessed from the Grid panel when nothing is selected in your sketch.

  2. Apply your preferred options. Options include:
    • Show Grid: By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC simulates grid paper to assist you in drawing. If you'd prefer to remove the grid so you only see a blank sheet for your sketch, uncheck this box.
    • Snap to Grid Increments: By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC's sketcher snaps the lines you draw to the nearest foot on the simulated "grid paper." If you need to fine tune this behavior, choose an alternate snap distance from the drop-down menu.
    • Wall unit of measure: This drop-down box lets you determine what format and units of measure should be used when displaying the length of walls.
    • Decimal precision: This setting determines the number of decimal places that will be used to display your measurements.
    • Area Unit of Measure: TOTAL for Tablet PC can display the area dimensions for your sketch in square feet, acres and hectacres. Select your preference from this drop-down menu to change the units of measure.
    • Snap to angles automatically: This setting makes it easier to draw commonly used angles by snapping directly to them, rather than having to draw them precisely on the grid. If you enable this setting, choose the degrees to which the angles should snap by checking the appropriate box below.
      • Note that, when drawing, you can temporarily enable or disable the angle snapping feature by holding the CTRL key on your keyboard while drawing the angle.
    • Scale: By default, TOTAL for Tablet PC will automatically scale your sketches to fit within the viewable area on the sketch canvas. However, you can manually set the drawing scale here.
      • Check Obey report scaling bounds to autofit the drawing if your manual scale will cause any part of it to appear off-screen.
  3. When finished, click OK to save your changes.
