Keyboard

Your mobile device's keyboard is available for use throughout TOTAL for Mobile.  To call up the on-screen keyboard, just tap any data entry field, or enter the sketch section for your report.

Additionally, you can use any of the available input methods offered on your mobile device, including voice entry.

 


The Sketch keyboard

When sketching in TOTAL for Mobile, an alternate keyboard appears that's specifically tailored to sketching.  TOTAL for Mobile displays the keyboard below when sketching:

 

 

Below is a rundown of the available keys on a tablet and smartphone sketch keyboard.

 

The sketch keyboard for tablets

 — 

Use the arrow keys to move your cursor, nudge sketch elements (lines, symbols, etc.), or indicate a direction when drawing lines.

 — 

Use the number keys to enter lengths when drawing lines.

 — 

Use the key to delete selected items or erase data you've entered in a field.

 — 

Press the Enter key after entering text and/or numeric data.  The enter key is used to submit the data entry as well as anchor each point of your line or wall.

 — 

Tap angle to draw an angled line such as a bay window.

 — 

Tap undo to revert the last action performed on the sketch.  When you tap undo, you're prompted to confirm the action to undo.  Tap the appropriate action to revert the sketch accordingly.  Tap undo again to revert the next most recent action, or to redo the action you just reverted.

 — 

Tap redo to reapply an action after pressing undo.

 — 

Tap fit to automatically fit all the sketch elements on the visible canvas.  This doesn't change the dimensions of your sketch, it simply adjusts the zoom level so that everything is centered and visible.

Sketch Keyboard Arrow Keys

 — 

Use the arrow keys to move your cursor, nudge sketch elements (lines, symbols, etc.), or indicate a direction when drawing lines.

Sketch Keyboard Number Keys

 — 

Use the number keys to enter lengths when drawing lines.

Function Key

 — 

Tap the function key to access additional keyboard options, such as, page, info, area, label, symbol, and clear.

Sketch Mode Key

 — 

Tap the mode icon to choose your sketching mode.  Choose between Area Line Mode (  ), Free-form Line Mode (  ), Modify Mode (  ), and Place Cursor Mode (  ).

Undo Key

 — 

Tap undo to revert the last action performed on the sketch.  Tap undo again to revert the next most recent action.  You can continue to undo actions performed in the sketch all the way to the beginning, or to the most recently saved version of the sketch.

Undo Key

 — 

Tap redo to revert the last undo action performed on the sketch.

 — 

Press the Enter key after entering text and/or numeric data.  The enter key is used to submit the data entry as well as anchor each point of your line or wall.

Delete Key

 — 

Use the del key to delete selected items or erase data you've entered in a field.

Sketch Pages Key

 — 

Tap the page key to toggle between existing pages in your sketch, or to add and remove additional pages.

 — 

Use the info button to view a summation of the areas and calculations in your sketch.

Area Key

 — 

Select an area in your sketch and tap area to edit the area name and calculation properties for that area.  Pressing the area button without an area selected in your sketch displays the list of area types where you can Add, Edit, or Delete entries.

Label Key

 — 

Use the label button to add area labels to your sketch.

 — 

Tap Text to place custom text on your sketch.  Simply enter the text as you want it to appear, press Place Text, and tap the area of the sketch where you want to place it.

Symbols Key

 — 

Use the sym button to add symbols to your sketch.

Angle Key

 — 

Tap angle to draw an angled line such as a bay window.

Return to Standard Sketch Keyboard (Number Keys)

 — 

Press the 123 key to return to the default sketching keyboard.
