Critical Fields

Critical fields are the electronic equivalent of your checklist. In other words, they are items you can't forget to record before you leave a property inspection. TOTAL for Tablet PC does provide a pre-defined set of the most common critical items, but since property characteristics from location to location and appraiser workflows differ from appraiser to appraiser, TOTAL for Tablet PC allows you to customize these fields to meet your needs. Regardless of whether you customize your critical items or not, at any time, you can access your virtual checklist of favorite (critical) fields. Just open a file in TOTAL for Tablet PC, select the Data tab in the top toolbar and then open the Critical Items tab. Then, if you want to customize your critical items:

  1. Open the form customization screen for the form you wish to customize.
  2. Select a group containing the fields you wish to customize from the Groups pane on the left.
  3. When the Active Items list on the right updates, a list of all fields within the current group appears with critical fields designated by bolding. Select a field in the Active Items list and then check the Critical box in the Item Properties pane below to flag it as a Critical item. Or, to remove it from the Critical list, uncheck the Critical box.

  4. Repeat this process for any additional fields throughout the groups on your form.
  5. When finished, click OK to save your changes.
