Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 on January 14, 2020. Click here for more information concerning the end of support for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.

Microsoft recently announced they'll no longer support Bing Maps in any version of Internet Explorer (IE) except the latest version, Internet Explorer 11 (IE11). When Microsoft officially implements their changes, you won't be able to download maps in WinTOTAL Aurora or TOTAL unless IE11 is installed on your computer.

Below is the list of operating systems that currently support installing IE11:

  • Windows 8.1
(Windows 8 must be updated to 8.1*)
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
    (with Service Pack 1*)
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • For a complete list of system requirements, click here
  • *Run your Windows updates to install the latest service packs, or click here for instructions. If you're upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, click here for additional instructions.

Noticeably missing from the list of supported operating systems above are Windows XP and Windows Vista. This is because Microsoft ended support for Windows XP in April 2014 and support for Windows Vista ended in April 2017. For more information about the end of support for WinTOTAL Aurora and TOTAL on XP and Vista, click here.

If you're not sure which version of Windows you're running or which version of IE is installed on your computer, open IE and go to www.alamode.com/MapCheck to determine whether or not your computer will be affected. You'll also receive additional steps to install IE11 on your machine if your computer meets the system requirements but an older version of IE is detected.
