Moving your contacts database to another computer

This document shows you how to export your contacts database from an existing installation of TOTAL, and then import your contacts database on another computer.

To complete the steps in this document, you need a way to move files between computers — such as a USB flash drive or an external hard drive. Once you have your removable storage device ready, follow the instructions below to move your contacts from one computer to another.


Export your Contacts

  1. Close out of TOTAL and connect your removable storage device to the computer where your contacts are stored.
  2. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R.

  3. In the Open: field, type %tsa6% and click OK to open the Tech Support Assistant.

  4. When the Tech Support Assistant opens, go to the Additional Tools tab, and double‑click 33. Export TOTAL Contacts.

  5. In the window that appears, browse to the location where you want to save the export file, select the drive or folder, and click OK.

Once the export process is complete, close the Tech Support Assistant, disconnect the removable storage device, and connect it to the computer where you want to import your contacts database. Then, continue with the instructions below.


Import your Contacts

  1. Close out of TOTAL completely on the new PC. Then, press Windows Key + R on your keyboard.

  2. In the Open: field, type %tsa6% and click OK to open the Tech Support Assistant.

  3. When the Tech Support Assistant opens, go to the Additional Tools tab, and double‑click 34. Import TOTAL Contacts.
  4. In the window that appears, browse to the location where you saved the export file, select the contacts.zcf file, and click Open.

That's it! When the import process is complete, click OK on the confirmation message, and close the Tech Support Assistant. Then, open TOTAL and go to the Contacts PowerView to access your contacts in TOTAL.
