Moving your contacts database to a new computer

This document shows you how to locate and copy your contacts database to backup or move them to a new installation of TOTAL.

Follow the instructions below to move your Contacts from one standalone installation of TOTAL to a standalone installation on another computer.

To complete the steps in this document, you need a removable storage device such as a USB flash drive or an external hard drive.

Back up your Contacts

  1. Connect your removable storage device to the computer where your Contacts are stored.
  2. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R.

  3. In the Open: field, type documents and click OK to open the Documents directory.

  4. Double‑click the a la mode folder, and then double‑click the Database folder.
  5. Right‑click contacts.s3db and choose Copy.

  6. Now, browse to your removable storage device. Right‑click an empty area of the window and Paste your contacts.s3db file.

Once the transfer process is complete, disconnect the removable storage device and connect it to your new computer. Then, continue with the instructions below.


Move your Contacts

  1. Close out of TOTAL completely on the new PC. Then, browse to your removable storage device, right‑click the contacts.s3db file, and choose Copy.
  2. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R.

  3. In the Open: field, type documents and click OK to open the Documents directory.

  4. Double‑click the a la mode folder, and then double‑click the Database folder.
  5. Right‑click an empty space in the window, choose Paste, and click Yes to replace the existing file.

That's it!  Close any windows that remain open, open TOTAL, and go to the Contacts PowerView to access your contacts in TOTAL.
