When Bing Maps upgraded to API 8 in 2017, the visual quality of their map images was degraded, leading to blurry, poor‑quality maps. Appraisers often found that the newer map images were not up to their standards, so we worked with Microsoft to bring the earlier map versions back to TOTAL.

As a result, if you find a map in TOTAL's Map Wizard that's missing certain features or otherwise appears out of date, use TOTAL's Tech Support Assistant to toggle your maps to Bing's most recent version. Follow the instructions below to begin.

Keep in mind that when you switch to the most recent map image version, the clarity of your image may be reduced.

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R.

  2. When the Run dialog appears, type %tsa6% and click OK to open the Tech Support Assistant.

You can also access the Tech Support Assistant by clicking Start  [All] Programs  TOTAL  Tech Support Assistant.
  3. When the Tech Support Assistant opens, select the Additional Tools tab near the top. Then, double‑click 26. Select Map Image Version on the left.

  4. In the window that appears, select Most Recent Map Image and click Save.

That's it! You're now using the most recent version of Bing Maps in TOTAL. After the window closes, run the Map Wizard again in TOTAL to view the new map version. To revert back to the older maps, simply repeat steps 1‑4 and select Previous Map Image when you reach Step 4.
