After you've drawn an area, you can copy and paste it to speed up drawing
another, similar area. This is handy for drawing a second floor that has very
similar area lines to the first floor, for example. Here's how it works.
- In a sketch, tap the
Modify icon ( ) to enter Modify Mode. If you're using an iPhone or a
similar device with a smaller screen, press the mode icon on your sketch
keyboard and select Modify.
- Tap an area to select it (the color of the area changes to yellow to
indicate when it's selected). If this is a new sketch, click here for instructions on creating a new
area.
- Now, tap Copy on the upper left of the screen, and choose
Area or Outline. Choosing
Area copies the entire area including any labels, symbols,
free‑form lines, and any other sketch elements contained within the selected
area. Choosing Outline simply copies the area lines that make
up the perimeter of the area.
- Long‑tap a blank portion of the sketch grid (anywhere outside of an
existing area) to show the Item Options window.
- Tap Paste Area to insert the area you copied at the
selected location on the canvas.
Now you'll see the area appear on the sketch, and you can modify it as needed to reflect the property you're
sketching.
