Filename Options

The Filename Options section tells Vault what to do regarding duplicate filenames.  We recommended choosing the option to Prevent and correct duplicate filenames… to ensure that all reports are uploaded to the Vault.  But, you can also choose the option to allow duplicate files to save Vault space.

Follow the instructions below to adjust these settings:

  1. Click Tools in the menu on the upper left and select Configure Settings from the drop‑down menu.
  2. Select Vault from the list of categories on the left and scroll to the Filename Options section.
  3. Check the box next to Enable scheduling in the Vault Settings section if it isn't already enabled.
  4. Choose what you want Vault to do with duplicate files:
    Prevent and correct duplicate filenames…
When this option is selected, any existing duplicate files that are found in a watched folder are automatically renamed by appending a timestamp to the end of the filename — making the filename unique.  Additionally, if you start a new report and attempt to save it using a filename that already exists, you're alerted of this and you're prompted to enter a unique filename for the new report.  This allows Vault to upload all of the reports in your watched folders.
    Allow duplicate filenames…
This option leaves all filenames intact.  When the Vault encounters a report with a duplicate filename, it only uploads the report with the most recent date modified.
  5. When you're finished, click Save & Close.
