Help Clients Configure Calyx Point to Order Appraisals through Your XSite
Document 5036
Revised 11/7/2007 LD1

The Calyx Point system for mortgage originators comes complete with an interface that allows them to easily place electronic appraisal orders through your XSite.

This process reduces duplicate data entry many clients associate with ordering appraisals electronically. In addition to less typing, both the appraiser and mortgage lender gain the benefits of electronic status messaging and order delivery.

If you have clients using Calyx and you wish to have them order electronically instead of via fax, use the steps outlined in this document to help them configure their systems to order through your Appraiser XSite.

You may see "Mercury Network" in some of the screens since that was the previous name for our XSites Network.

This document explains the setup and appraisal ordering process for a Calyx Point end user. The first part explains how to help your clients configure their systems so they can order appraisals through your XSite.

Hint: If at all possible, you should go through these steps with your customer, to ensure that they understand the ordering process and you appear on their "Favorites" list.

A separate tech document has been created to help your clients use the interface to order through your XSite. Feel free to distribute this document to your customers.

Creating a Client Login Account

Before you install the Calyx tools, you should first create a client account for your user on your XSite. You can do this directly from your XSite before you visit your client. If you need help creating these accounts, consult the Creating Client Login Accounts from Contacts section of the Appraiser XSite User's Guide.

Installing the Ordering Tools

  1. Open or create a borrower or prospect file in Calyx Point that includes a property in an area for which you provide coverage.

Note: The Calyx ordering system will only display appraisers who's XSite profile shows they cover the area in which the current subject property is located. However, once you've been added to their "Favorites," you will always appear in that list.

  2. Click Interfaces in the toolbar and choose Appraisals…
  3. Click the entry for a la mode, inc. Mercury Network and then click Install…  Your system will go online and download the setup for the XSites Network integration.

  4. Click Run in the window that appears. If a security warning pops up asking if you're sure that you want to run this installation file, click Run again.
  5. A setup wizard starts to guide you through the installation. Simply follow the steps that walk you through the installation, clicking Next between each step.  When the installation is complete, click Finish.

Placing an Order & Configuring a Favorites List

  1. With the Calyx file open, choose the Appraisals... option in the Interfaces menu.
  2. Click a la mode, inc. Mercury Network. Then, click Send Data. Point takes you online to a special section of the XSites Network designed for Calyx Point users wishing to order appraisals.
  3. Click the XSites Network Appraisal Order option.

Calyx Interface with Favorites

  1. When the list of appraisers appears, browse through it to locate your company.
  2. Click the Favorites icon for your company, then click Order an Appraisal.

Select an appraiser from the list

  1. When your Appraisal XSite opens, enter the Username and Password you created for this client earlier and click Next. Make sure you leave this information with your customer for their future reference.

Hint: If your customer wants to change the password for their account, direct them to Tech Doc 5736 - Changing Client Login Passwords.

  1. Show your client the data that transfers from Calyx to your order form. Then, show them how to select a due date, Form/Type and payment method (the only items required for placing the order).
  2. Click Next to place the order, then demonstrate the Related Documents tools, - including DirectFax - they can use to send in supporting documentation.

The next time your customer uses the Calyx interface to place an order, they'll see your company in their list of favorite appraisers.
