This document explains how to take control of this process.

The square footage figures are not actually disappearing, but are being overwritten by another calculation. Square footage figures change or disappear when data (numbers, letters or blanks) is transferred in from another part of the report.

There are three ways area calculations are placed into a report.

  • Manually, by typing the in the figures
  • By importing the figures from Apex (or WinSketch, if you are still using that sketching program.)
  • By importing the figures with the Area Calculator

Square footage figures manually entered in the form are being overwritten by calculations from either the Area Calculator or Apex. Opening the report or jumping from the major form to another form and back triggers the transfer that overwrites the manually entered square footage.

To determine where the figures are transferring from, complete the following steps.

  1. Open your report in WinTOTAL.
  2. Click the Sketch PowerView.
  3. If there is a check mark in the Transfer building area into forms box, verify the figures are correct in the Value grid. If not, this is where the problem is occurring. To correct the problem, enter the correct square footage figures into the grid.
  4. If blank entries are transferring to the form, remove the check in the Transfer blank entries into forms box. A blank entry will transfer just as one containing figures would.

  5. Click the Form PowerView. Click Tools, and select Area Calculator.
  6. If the box labeled Load this data into suitable fields automatically whenever a form is opened is checked, verify that the data in the Area Calculator is accurate. If not, change the data in the Area Calculator to reflect the correct data, or uncheck the box labeled, Load this data into suitable fields automatically whenever a form is opened.
