	System Requirements

The general rule of thumb in the software and PC industry is, the more of anything you put in your system, the faster it should run. That is, if you have 1 GB of RAM, rather than 512 MB, Windows should run faster and so should TOTAL Sketch. Similarly, the faster the processor you have, the faster TOTAL Sketch should run.

The bare minimum system requirements listed below are simply to run TOTAL Sketch’s basic sketching and inspection functions, without digital photos or maps. The recommended configuration contains items that you may want in addition to those in the minimum setup to get the most out of TOTAL Sketch.

Minimum Requirements

1 GHz or better processor
1 GB or more RAM
40+ GB hard drive with at least 500 MB free space (for installation and reports)
Internet access (wireless access at a minimum)
For pen input use, a tablet, UMPC, or other mobile PC equipped with a tablet version of Windows (or Windows 7) is required
Microsoft Windows XP

Note: Pocket PCs and other PDA devices are not capable of running TOTAL Sketch since they run a completely different operating system varying between Windows Mobile, the Palm OS, and a variety of other custom operating systems. You must purchase a mobile device that runs the full version of Windows XP or Windows Vista for TOTAL Sketch to work.

Of course, if you've already created a set of QuickLists in WinTOTAL, you can import those into TOTAL for Tablet PC to help save time and maintain consistency with your current shorthand.

Recommended

1.5 GHz or better processor
2 GB or more RAM
60+ GB hard drive with at least 500 MB free space (for installation and reports)
A Windows 7 capable video card (if running Windows 7)
Internet access (wireless access at a minimum, but additional wired access is recommended)
USB ports, an SD card reader, and/or Bluetooth wireless (to integrate with other devices like a digital camera)


		Hint: If you haven't already purchased a mobile PC for use with TOTAL Sketch, be sure to consider your camera's connection options before making the final decision. For example, if your camera supports direct Bluetooth connections or has an removeable SD card you can insert into your PC, your mobile PC would need to offer Bluetooth support and/or an SD card slot. Check with your local retailer for assistance with these details.
