TOTAL Sketch's sketching tools come in two flavors: field sketching and desktop sketching. As you might expect, the main difference between the two is the way that you actually draw the sketch. If you're running TOTAL Sketch's sketcher on a tablet version of Windows, you typically sketch using digital ink - literally drawing the sketch as if on a clipboard. If you're running TOTAL Sketch's sketcher inside of TOTAL or on another formfilling software, you simply use the mouse and keyboard to sketch instead. To start or modify a sketch in TOTAL...

First, if you have not already done so, set TOTAL Sketch as your preferred sketcher in TOTAL by clicking Sketch With, TOTAL Sketch by a la mode from the main toolbar in TOTAL's Sketch PowerView.


		Note: Sketches created by third party sketch vendors, like Apex, are saved in a proprietary format that TOTAL Sketch cannot access. If you intend to edit a sketch from a third party vendor, you will need to use their own sketching software to edit and save it.

Create a new sketch or edit an existing sketch as needed.
- To create a new sketch - From the Sketch PowerView in WinTOTAL, click New Sketch in the toolbar at the top of the screen to create a new sketch. Then, in the screen that appears, select the type of sketch you want to create, and click OK.
- To edit an existing sketch - From the Sketch PowerView in WinTOTAL, click to select the sketch you wish to edit and then click Edit in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
Once TOTAL Sketch launches, select the sketch mode for your needs from the toolbar at the top. Modes include:
- Draw Mode - As the name implies Draw Mode is intended for use when you want to draw something new in your sketch. Click Draw in the main sketch toolbar to set Draw Mode in TOTAL Sketch.
- Modify Mode - Modify mode is intended for use when you simply need to adjust part of an existing sketch. Click Modify in the main sketch toolbar to set Modify Mode in TOTAL Sketch.
Draw your sketch as usual. When finished click File, Save from the menus and close TOTAL Sketch.


		Note: If you're using a software other than TOTAL to complete your report, please refer to the manual included with your formfilling software package for details on how to create or edit sketches.
