The general rule of thumb in the software and PC industry is, the more of anything you put in your system, the faster it should run. That is, if you have 1 GB of RAM, rather than 512 MB, Windows should run faster and so should DaVinci. Similarly, the faster the processor you have, the faster DaVinci should run.
The bare minimum system requirements listed below are simply to run DaVinci’s basic sketching and inspection functions, without digital photos or maps. The recommended configuration contains items that you may want in addition to those in the minimum setup to get the most out of DaVinci.

- 1 GHz or better processor
- 1 GB or more RAM
- 40+ GB hard drive with at least 500 MB free space (for installation and reports)
- A Windows Vista capable video card (if running Windows Vista)
- Internet access (wireless access at a minimum)
- For pen input use, a tablet, UMPC, or other mobile PC equipped with a Tablet version of Windows is required
- Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista

Note: Pocket PC's and other PDA devices are not capable of running DaVinci since they run a completely different operating system varying between Windows Mobile, the Palm OS, and a variety of other custom operating systems. You must purchase a mobile device that runs the full version of Windows XP or Windows Vista for DaVinci to work. | ||

Hint: If you haven't already purchased a mobile PC for use with DaVinci, be sure to consider your camera's connection options before making the final decision. For example, if your camera supports direct Bluetooth connections or has an extractable SD card you can insert into your PC, your mobile PC would need to offer Bluetooth support and/or an SD card slot. Check with your local retailer for assistance with these details. | ||
