According to one definition, a Blog is "a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order." (Wikipedia)
But in the real estate world, Blogging is much more than just an online diary. It is your opportunity to establish yourself as an authority within your business niche. Your XSite's Blogging tool lets you publish a page on your site and add periodic "posts" to it. Site visitors can visit this page on a regular basis to keep up with your comments on whatever topic is hot in your local area. Topics of interest might be local real estate trends, home ownership tips, or even highlighting your latest listings.
Why would you want a Blog on your site? Well, first and foremost it's a great way to keep in touch with your customers. But it can also provide a boost in your Search Engine rankings. Search engines are always looking for new content on the sites they crawl. Every time you post information to your Blog, you add new content to your site. Plus, as you establish yourself as an expert, other sites will start linking to your Blog, one of the key factors in higher search engine rankings.
Another great benefit to Blogging is that it can help you open a dialog with site visitors. Every Blog post includes the option to post Comments. Whenever a site visitor posts a comment on your Blog, they're entered into your Contacts database, ready for you to follow up with them. In addition, they also have the option of subscribing to your Blog. Whenever you post a new message, your subscribers receive a brief e-mail summary of the piece, along with a link back to your site.

Adding a Blog to Your Site
To add a blog to your web site...
- From the XSite drop-down menu in the main toolbar, click Blogging.
- From the Blogging menu, click the Settings option.
- Click the check box to Activate blog on website.
- Scroll down and click Save.

Just post your first Blog message in the Create New Post screen. If your Blog is not already activated, you'll be prompted to activate it at that time.
